Why Many Men Are Interested In Penis Enlargement
It's a well-known stereotype that men love to compare and compete in all sorts of areas. Look at how much guys love sports. Playing sports is fun not only because the sport is fun, but also because of the competition aspect. Games have winners and losers. Even individual sports allow you to judge your current performance against previous performance. Maybe you just ran a mile in 5:45 but two months ago you ran it in 6:00. You're competing against yourself.
Even outside of the sports competitions, men still compete with other men although sometimes it's not spoken. Men compare biceps sizes, the kind of car they have, who has the better job, etc. These things aren't always verbalized, as doing so would be committing a sort of social faux pas (in other words, you can't just be like "hey man, my car is better than yours!") but they may still be doing it in their heads.
Whether rightly so or not, these areas are all things that some men use to define their "manliness." I know, it kind of sounds silly sometimes, but a lot of guys do it to a certain extent.
Strangely enough, there is one area that many guys are conscious of but they never directly compare:
Penis size.
Almost every guy, at some point, has wondered if he is "big enough" down there. Now, guys will usually try to look up this information discreetly, whether online, or by asking their doctor, etc. A man probably isn't going to go up to his friend and be like "hey, do you think my penis is too small?" and pull his pants down. Furthermore, even if he wanted to, penis size almost always refers to erect penis size, and it's not very likely that a man would be erect in front of his friend.
Another thing to take into consideration is the quality of the source. Some places says that the average penis size is somewhere between 5 and 6 inches when erect, and that is correct. Other places, especially places trying to sell you devices or supplements to make your penis bigger, may tell you that the average length is 8 inches.
Now let's think about that for a second. Average length really is between 5 and 6 inches, so most guys are going to be somewhere around there. Now if they hear that the average size is 8 inches they are instantly going to think "oh no, I'm below average!" and be more likely to order the product.
Another way that men may try to compare is by watching adult videos. While they likely spend most of their time looking at the woman, they may glance at the members of the actors and see how it looks like measure up. The problem with this is that sometimes actors in adult films are chosen because they have above-average members, so again the man would be comparing himself to someone who is above average and he may feel insecure even though his penis is an average size to begin with.
Finally, some of the surveys that have been done to measure penis size were based on men measuring themselves and reporting their measurements themselves. Men have a tendency to exaggerate... 5.5 inches may be reported as 6.5 or 7 inches. Suddenly, the data gets skewed and then people reading it see "holy cow, the average penis length is 6.5 inches?! Mine is only 5.5 inches! I'm too short!"
And we already know that 5.5 inches is average.
And of course, some guys know they're average but still want to be above average. There's nothing wrong with that.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to make your penis bigger, just be sure that you know what "average" is before you make a decision. if you want to try to enlarge your penis there are various devices, exercises, and pills that all claim to help.
It's probably a good idea to speak with your doctor before using any of them.
