According to new research, children who snore but are undergoing treatment for it have shown considerable improvement in the learning abilities but the behavioral problems have not improved. The study was conducted at Monash Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne and Dr. Sarah Biggs who had studied over 160 children aged 7 to 12 years
As per her findings, she discovered that snoring did contribute to the disrupted learning and negatively affected the behavior patterns. Though with oral and nasal drops assistance and in a few cases, surgery contributed to stop snoring in children, there was an improvement in the learning process. However, the behavioral issues remained.
When these children who snored were compared to the children who didn't snore, there was marked difference in the behavior patterns. Though it was studied that with improved sleep, the brain recovers when it comes to learning but the behavior is still affected. Although snoring is one of the reasons that sleep disrupts and it affects the cognitive functioning irrespective of the age-group, children are affected the most. Behavior and learning patterns develop in early childhood and if snoring is one of the reasons that hamper normal development, you need to find the right cure.
Another study was conducted at the University of South Australia's Center for Sleep Research about babies and toddler snoring problems. Dr. Mark Kohler who was one of the sleep specialists studied over 450 snoring babies and found the snoring can affect babies as young as 6 months to about 12 months. But he was of the view that as infancy is a critical time for brain development, the long-term repercussions of snoring are still not known.
At SLEEP 2012, different views were presented and it was noted in many of the studies that sleep-disorder and snoring led to numerous performance and learning disorders. Additionally, it has been seen that children with behavioral problems tend to have learning disabilities. When snoring is left untreated, not only does the sleep disorders increase but it can culminate as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, a fatal condition. Value of Meditation



The benefit of meditation, which the Westerners recently discovered, was well appreciated over twenty-five centuries ago in the East. After some practice, many practitioners will experience tranquilized mind, and feel a sense of calm pervades the whole body.
During 1970s, University of Massachusetts at Worcester, U.S.A., started a stress-reduction program. This center for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) still exists today. By sitting still and following the movement of air entering and leaving your nostrils, your electroencephalograph reading will show that gamma waves which are associated with attention and learning are generated. Isn't this good for you?
During meditation, unusual amount of brain activity in the left side of the pre-frontal cortex is going on. It was confirmed that experienced practitioners eventually have an average 5 % thicker cortex. This part of the brain is associated with positive emotions. You will therefore be more alert and happier than the others.
The mental images you see when your eyes are closed are your own creation. They can be anything a person may imagine. These are called Nimittas. For most people, they are beautiful lights of various colors, e.g. while, blue, purple, grey, yellow, orange etc. Sometimes they are bright and unstable, vibrating or flashing and changing shapes, like the clouds.
Some people also see eyes or faces when their eyes are closed. These are very normal and we should not be attached to them for our own safety. If they are too fearful, just open your eyes and they will be gone. Do not be attached to whatever you see. If a certain thing appears in front of you every time you meditate, just have a paint brush ready, dip it in ink and hold it while you meditate. When that thing appears, gently mark it with your brush and then open your eyes. What has been marked?
For more advance practitioners, within next few minutes after the nimittas, maybe few hours, days, months, or years, (depending on how well you have practiced so far) Jhana will happen by themselves later on.
According the Buddha: for one who indulges in Jhana, four results are to be expected: Stream-Winner, Once-Returner, Non-Returner, or Arahant.
If you encounter difficulties, you need to consult experienced practitioners. These people normally do not request money for assisting you. If they do, be aware. It is better to consult those who don't ask for monetary rewards.
Meditation is a form of psychotherapy. The number of psychiatric patients is increasing rapidly and many hospitals can't cope. Those people ended up in the hospital because they did not know how to cope with stress. They need to relax mentally. They are ambitious. They struggle too hard.

Even though you may be aged 70 or over, you can remain mentally as healthy as a 20-year old if you care to maintain your health. And one of the methods is meditation, which can slow down your heart rate and breathing rate per minute.
Meditation may also prevent you from ending up with diabetic, high blood pressure or cardiovascular problems, because the elasticity of your blood vessels will be improved and your blood toned up. As a person thinks of compassion, his body system stimulates the cells to generate valuable chemical compounds to produce energy and vitality. So we can say metta has tonic effect on the whole physical constitution.

There may be no word that carries more fear these days than "Cancer." Most of us don't even want to think about it, though many of us are forced to think about it when we or one of our loved ones receives the news. When that happens, life narrows to one priority-how do we fight this? What can we do? With so many treatment options, offering such a wide range of success and side-effects, the treatment information can be overwhelming and confusing-to say the least. In meditation you will commonly guide your attention toward one focal object. Paying attention to one thing, such as your breathing, has a focusing effect that calms your body. Paying attention to slow deep breathing initiates a relaxation response in your body that eases muscular tension, quiets your mind, and releases positive neurochemicals such as dopamine and serotonin that have pain-reducing and relaxation-increasing effects. When you relax down out of a stress-fear response, you put your body in a state that is conducive to healing and regeneration. You initiate a cascade of positive bio-chemistry that can help your body regain health and feel better in the moment.
All of us have cancerous cells that our body normally handles quite well. Our body knows how to deal with them. It's when our natural healing and regeneration processes are overwhelmed that the disease begins to get the better of our immune resources. Anything we can do to relax and stimulate our natural immune response will help us regain the upper hand.
Another meditative technique that holds promise is to visualize healthy cells. Research shows that holding images of what healthy cells look and function like can facilitate positive immune response. Could it be that through visualization we connect to a healthy blueprint that informs cellular function and promotes a return to health? Many people have experienced this result.
Meditation can also help you to connect to positive feelings of well-being. You can practice generating positive feelings of acceptance, appreciation, love, and gratitude inside your body. One of the most interesting anecdotal discoveries in cases of cancer remission is that those who recover fully often say that they regained their ability to give and receive love and that this made all the difference. Meditation can grow your ability to move into acceptance, which may lead you to appreciation of unforeseen opportunities available within the cancer experience. This could lead you to being grateful for moments of love in even the most desperate feeling situations. Consciously cultivating the love in your heart may take you to a whole new place mentally, emotionally, and physically.
In summary, meditation can be used in conjunction with any treatment modality to make the whole process more manageable and less painful on all levels. Embarrassing Penis Stories: The Aftermath




I'm sure we've all heard some pretty embarrassing stories about some guy who had a penis malfunction or bad disposition with a potential partner. It's usually a bad situation all the way around for the story-teller, the subject, and the listeners. Yes, even the listeners, some mental picture we can all do without. While we are all laughing and talking about this guy and his miserable circumstance, what's he going through?
The initial embarrassment came within the moment. No matter if the penis was touched, seen, or felt, the embarrassment set in once the guy's partner made it very clear that it was inadequate in some form or fashion. That's a huge and immediate blow to any Man's ego, confidence, pride, etc. Then, there's that awkward span of time where the intimacy abruptly comes to a halt and everyone realizes that something very uncomfortable is about to take place in the near future. Lies will be told, even though feelings will be hurt regardless. One of which will be a pledge to confidentiality which will be broken as soon as the potential partner walks out or walks him out.
Everyone must know! When an opportunity presents itself for someone to tell an embarrassing, funny story at someone else's expense, most of us spring into action. All the closest friends are contacted, via phone or media. No details are spared. But, after the end of the testimonial everyone always says "Don't tell anyone I told you." What a waste of words. The friends typically carry the torch to another, then another, and then more others. Before the story loses steam, half of a city knows about this guy's penis. So what happens when this guy is spotted out in public, immediate laughter? You're absolutely right! I mean groups of people all so amused that they can't contain it. All the while this guy is internal torn because he now knows that everyone knows. Although the laughter will eventually stop, no one will forget.
Now this guy has to compensate for what he lacks in the penis department. The undertone to most guys' confidence level is very synonymous with his sexual abilities, whether that is in size or capabilities. So if he doesn't have that, this guy has to have something equally appealing to the masses to compensate. Out of pure shame, now this guy is virtually forced to accumulate lots of money and material things or acquire a lot of power and respect through other means. This will all be transparent to others, no matter how much this guy tries to disguise it. His entire existence will be filled with shame and inadequacy until he feels as though he has balanced his sexual inadequacy with other things.
Every time this guy gets ready to have sex he will be overwhelmed with anxiety. Now that his condition has been made public, he's going to always assume that just because he was inadequate for that partner and everyone who heard about him, that there isn't one person that he is sexually good enough for or compatible with. He may prolong the intimacy or try to overcompensate sexually with extended foreplay stimulation. This is the only way he'll feel that he can please his partner.
But what's really sad is, all this guy had to do was fix the penis problem FIRST, then pursue a mate. A lot can be learned about oneself when time away from intimacy is taken. Maybe he didn't realize he could have avoided all that shame and embarrassment so easily. He'll never get a second chance to make a first impression.
